Golden Hands Community Barber

Zachariah Norton is Golden Hands the Community Barber. Originally from Jervis bay in NSW Zach moved to Richmond over a decade ago.

Zach’s first memories of cutting hair are in his mothers salon when he was just 14 years old. As an adult he went on to work in several barbershops in Melbourne including Doctor Follicles in Richmond.
He has a mobile barbershop which attaches to the back of his car, a Toyota Land Cruiser, that’s painted with a red and white candy cane swirl.

Zach has always been community minded, as a child his family participated in helping out in local co-ops. These community values are more important to him than ever and working with Yarra Youth Centre in Melbourne, Zach uses his skills at community events free of charge.

His philosophy: “it’s simple really, you look good so you feel good.”

Zach is a true believer in the power of positivity and thinks that there is nothing better than feeling good about yourself.

So naturally the next step is to hit the road. Zach is currently getting ready to take his community work to the next level and has added a camper to the back of his ute so that his it becomes not only his mobile barber shop but also his mobile home.

There’s still some work to be done before he can cruise up the East Coast of Australia and continue his community work as he goes. Once he finishes selling off all of his worldly possessions he will need to make his car his home.

Eventually Zach hopes to team up with another NFP venture like his Orange Sky Laundry and really make a difference to the lives of people who need it. You can follow Zach on his journey via his Facebook page, Golden Hands Community Barber and onInstagram.
